Last Quarter Release Ritual
To release what is genuinely finished — not what is merely uncomfortable.
Purpose
To release what is genuinely finished — not what is merely uncomfortable.
When to use it
At the Last Quarter of the MoonMagicx Lunar Method™, or any waning night.
MoonMagicx Lunar Method™ phase: Last Quarter.
What you need
• Paper and pen
• A heatproof bowl or sink
• A black candle
• Cypress or rue if available
• Water
Preparation
Before you write anything, ask twice: is this finished, or do I simply want it to be easier? Only the first belongs in this ritual.
Preparing the space
Work near a sink or outside. Bowl in the centre, candle behind it, water within reach.
Opening
Light the candle. Say: 'I release what is complete. I keep what is still living.'
Step by step
1. Write on one strip of paper what is finished. One thing only.
2. On a second strip, write what you are afraid you will lose with it.
3. Read both aloud.
4. Burn the first strip safely in the bowl, or tear it into small pieces and run water over it.
5. Keep the second strip. Fold it and put it somewhere you will find it next cycle — fear needs witnessing, not destroying.
6. Wash your hands in cold water and dry them fully.
Spoken words
'This has ended. I stop feeding it.
I do not need to hate it to let it go.
My hands are free for what is next.'
Closing
Snuff the candle. Say: 'Released, and I remain.'
Aftercare
Expect a dip. Release is often followed by grief rather than relief. Rest, eat, and let the Waning Crescent handle the rest.
Reflection
Notice whether you tried to release the person while keeping the pattern. That is the most common reason release does not hold.
Journal prompts
• What did I have to admit for this to be over?
• What am I keeping alive out of habit?
• What is genuinely still mine?
Safety
Burn only small amounts of paper in a heatproof container, never near fabric or curtains. Do not burn plants indoors if anyone present has asthma.
