To stay yourself in the presence of someone who consistently drains you.

ProtectionBoundariesPersonal PowerLast Quarter

Purpose

To stay yourself in the presence of someone who consistently drains you.

When to use it

Before contact you cannot avoid: family events, shared care, work.

MoonMagicx Lunar Method™ phase: Last Quarter.

What you need

• A black or dark blue candle

• Black Tourmaline, Onyx or Yarrow

• A small mirror

• Salt

Preparation

Decide in advance the three sentences you will not be drawn into arguing.

Preparing the space

Candle in front, mirror facing away from you, crystal in your dominant hand, salt circle around the mirror.

Opening

Light the candle. Say: 'I go as myself, and I come back as myself.'

Step by step

1. Say the person's role, not their name: 'the one who drains me'.

2. State your three non-negotiables out loud.

3. Hold the crystal and imagine a still, quiet space around your body — not a wall, a distance.

4. Place the mirror face-outward on your altar to reflect back what is not yours.

5. Carry the crystal to the encounter and keep the sentences short.

6. On return, wash your hands and face in cold water before speaking to anyone.

Spoken words

'What is yours stays yours.

I am not responsible for managing your feelings.

I leave as myself.'

Closing

Snuff the candle. Sweep the salt. Say: 'Returned.'

Aftercare

Do not debrief for hours; that keeps the encounter running. One short conversation, then something entirely unrelated.

Reflection

Notice whether you need protection or an actual boundary spoken out loud. Usually both.

Journal prompts

• What do I always end up explaining?

• What sentence would end that conversation cleanly?

• What is not mine to manage?

Safety

If a person is abusive or unsafe, ritual is not the tool. Contact a support service. Never leave candles unattended.
