Threshold Protection Ritual
To seal the entrances of your home so that what comes in is invited, and what has been draining you loses its route.
Purpose
To seal the entrances of your home so that what comes in is invited, and what has been draining you loses its route.
When to use it
When your home feels heavy, after visitors who leave you exhausted, or after a difficult period. Best in the waning half of the cycle.
MoonMagicx Lunar Method™ phase: Waning Crescent.
What you need
• A black or white candle
• Sea salt
• Rosemary (dried)
• A small bowl of water
• A cloth
Preparation
Open the windows for ten minutes and physically tidy the entrance. Protection work laid over clutter rarely holds. Wash your hands and put your phone in another room.
Preparing the space
Stand at your main door, facing outward. Place the bowl of water on the floor at the threshold, salt to your right, rosemary to your left, candle in front of you.
Opening
Light the candle. Take three slow breaths and say: 'This is my home. I decide what enters.' Wait until you actually feel that sentence rather than only saying it.
Step by step
1. Add a pinch of salt and a pinch of rosemary to the water and stir three times clockwise with your finger.
2. Dip the cloth and wipe the door frame — bottom left, up the left side, across the top, down the right side — in one continuous movement.
3. At each corner, pause and say the words below.
4. Repeat at every external door, and at any window that faces a place you feel uneasy about.
5. Pour the remaining water outside the front door, or down the drain if that is not possible.
6. Sprinkle a thin line of dry salt across the inside of the threshold and leave it until morning.
Spoken words
'Sealed at the base, sealed at the sides, sealed above.
What is mine stays. What is not mine leaves.
By my own hand, this door is mine.'
Closing
Return to the candle. Say: 'It is done, and it holds.' Let the candle burn down safely if you can, or snuff it — do not blow it out.
Aftercare
Sweep the salt outward the next morning. Drink water. Notice over the following week whether the entrance feels different, and whether you answer the door differently.
Reflection
Protection work often reveals that the leak was a relationship, not a spirit. If a name came to mind while you worked, that is information.
Journal prompts
• Who has open access to me that I never actually agreed to?
• What does 'my home is mine' feel like in my body?
• What boundary do I need to say out loud this week?
Safety
Never leave candles unattended. Keep salt away from pets and plants. If you rent, sweep salt rather than leaving residue.
My notes
Kept privately on this device.
