Anger

Spiritual culture is often quietly frightened of anger, which is convenient — because anger is usually the moment you stop being manageable.

Let's start here

Spiritual culture is often quietly frightened of anger, which is convenient — because anger is usually the moment you stop being manageable.

Going deeper

Anger is information about a boundary: something crossed, something taken, something dismissed. The work isn't to transcend it or to discharge it at people. It's to read it accurately and act on what it's pointing to. Anger heard early rarely needs to shout.

Light

A clean, early signal that something matters to you.

Shadow

Exploding at the safe person instead of addressing the actual one, or swallowing it until it becomes resentment.

How to work with this

• When anger arrives, ask: what was crossed, and when did I first notice?

• Write the unsent message. Decide separately whether any of it gets said.

• Move the body — anger is physical before it is verbal.

Questions to sit with

• What is my anger protecting?

• Who am I actually angry with?

• What boundary was crossed that I let slide?
