Rest

When did rest become something you had to earn?

PeaceSelf-Love

Let's start here

When did rest become something you had to earn?

You finish everything, and then — maybe — you're allowed to stop. Except the list never finishes, so neither does the waiting.

Going deeper

Rest is a spiritual practice because it is a refusal: of the idea that your worth is measured in output. The Waning Crescent exists in the lunar cycle for exactly this reason. Even the moon goes dark, and no one accuses her of falling behind.

Light

Stopping without permission and without apology.

Shadow

Optimising rest into another productivity project.

How to work with this

• Protect one hour this week that produces nothing.

• Rest before the list is done, once, and notice the sky doesn't fall.

• Build a deliberate pause into every cycle at the Waning Crescent.

Questions to sit with

• What am I afraid will happen if I stop?

• Whose voice tells me rest is lazy?

• What does my body ask for first when I finally lie down?

Where this connects

Howlite, Lepidolite and Blue Lace Agate; Chamomile and Lavender; the Waning Crescent phase; Four of Swords.
