Surrender

Surrender has been badly translated. It doesn't mean giving up, and it doesn't mean doing nothing.

It means stopping the part you were never in charge of.

There is a difference between the effort that belongs to you and the outcome that doesn't. Surrender is putting down the second while continuing the first.

Rest that isn't abandonment, and effort without white knuckles.

Using surrender as a reason to avoid responsibility.

• List what is yours and what isn't. Act only on the first.

• Protect one evening with no fixing at all.

• Say: 'I have done my part for today.'

• What am I trying to control that isn't mine?

• What is my actual part here?

• What would rest look like tonight?
